I set up OppyAi because the ITS solutions we had yesterday are not necessarily the solutions we need today.
The name comes from the story of Oppy, short for Opportunity, a beloved robot from the Mars Exploration Program. The story of Oppy and the team who turned a 90-Martian day mission into a 15-year adventure exemplified resilience, innovation and showed the profound impact that technology can have on exploration and discovery. Just as Oppy wanted to push the boundaries of what was possible in space exploration, I want to help push boundaries in our transport sector and beyond.
I believe we need resilience and innovation. In today’s rapidly evolving transport landscape, businesses and authorities face numerous challenges, including inefficiencies, rising costs and the need for sustainability. I want to help these organisations tackle these challenges head-on.
In addition to this, the transport industry stands on the brink of transformation with the use of artificial intelligence and data. It is at this point that we need to think carefully about how we continue, whether we are asking the right questions, and to challenge ourselves on jumping to solutions. Getting to the root cause of problems needs to be at the heart of what we do, along with thinking about all the people and customers that we are delivering for. To this end we must design for everyone and apply our intelligence to avoid unintended consequences. The AI in OppyAi stands for artificial intelligence but can equally mean applied intelligence.
Oppy was more than just a robot; it was a symbol of what could be achieved with the right vision and approach. I established OppyAi to be a catalyst for change in our industry.
I am committed to navigating this journey with all who wish to join me.
